A night desk that is actually awake.
Freight moves while your office is dark. This is the desk that watches it.
This is the seat offshore staffing is genuinely best at, and the reason is not cost. It is that your overnight desk is somebody else’s normal daytime shift.
You are not asking a person to wreck their sleep for your freight. You are hiring someone who is awake, alert and on their third coffee at 3am Central — which is the difference between a check call that happens and one that was supposed to.
A day in the seat
- Scheduled check calls and driver location updates
- Monitoring ELD and tracking feeds for stalled or off-route trucks
- Confirming and rescheduling delivery appointments
- Escalating breakdowns, detention and service failures by your rules
- Clean, timestamped notes in the TMS for the incoming shift
- Proactive customer updates, so shippers are not chasing you
What we screen for
- Reliability on an overnight schedule — verified against their actual history, not assumed from an interview.
- Written English good enough to be read by your customer, since a lot of this seat is notes and status emails.
- Judgement about escalation. Knowing what is a note, what is a phone call, and what is worth waking someone for.
- Comfort with repetitive, high-accuracy work. This is a seat where consistency matters more than flair.
Why this is usually the first seat to offshore
Everything the role needs arrives through a system — your TMS, tracking feeds, email. The output is checkable: either the check call happened and the note is there, or it isn’t. And the escalation rules can be written down in advance.
Those three properties are what make a seat work remotely. Track and trace has all of them, which is why brokerages who try one offshore seat usually start here and expand afterwards.
Common questions
What hours exactly?
Yours. The person is hired onto a US shift as their normal working schedule — Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific, day or overnight. Not a few hours of overlap and a handoff email.
What happens when they are sick?
We cover it. Planned leave is scheduled with you in advance and covered by a cross-trained colleague; unplanned absence is covered the same day where the role allows.
Can they handle weekend coverage too?
Yes. Weekend and split-shift coverage is available and priced accordingly, because that is what it takes to keep good people on those shifts.
